30 Seconds To Mars: “We love you!”
 Despite their popularity 30 Seconds to Mars is not the band for everyone because not everyone can deeply feel and understand their profound lyrics, philosophy and symbolism. But having dipped into Mars universe once, you won’t be able to get back.
The latest band’s release "This Is War” has become quite a surprise for the fans in terms of sound because the band showed the new themselves to the audience. The album with such a stern name has an epic and grand sound and a clear concept. The musicians experimented with style and sound showing to the world various sides of their talent and music perception. And considering the conditions in which the album was being recorded, one can’t help admiring the band’s strong character, endurance and persistence.
The first appearance of 30 Seconds To Mars in Russia took place in 2008 when they performed at Muz Tv Awards in Moscow. Almost two years have passed since than and this year the American alternative band consisting of Jared Leto (vocals, guitar), Tomo Milicevic (guitar), Shannon Leto (drums) and the touring bass-player Tim Kelleher has returned to our country. SKK in St. Petersburg was chosen the venue for the first ever gig of 30 Seconds To Mars on the territory of Russia.
 Together with 30 Seconds To Mars their good friends and the opening act at many of their concerts – the band Street Drum Corps – have come to Russia. They appear on the stage of SKK like a hurricane and announce that they have come from California and brought sunshine with them. Apart from sunshine SDC have also brought energy, drive and a great beginning of the amazing concert.
When the black curtain hides the stage from the audience’s view after Street Drum Corps’ fascinating performance, it becomes clear that 30 Seconds To Mars are to hit the stage soon. A few minutes later the first mysterious chords of "Escape” slowly fill the hall and mark the beginning of the most non-ordinary concert ever. We don’t see the musicians of 30 Seconds To Mars yet, but their presence is felt in every corner of the huge venue. A flash of light, the curtain falls and here they are! 30 Seconds To Mars are on the stage! Raise your hands and get ready! "Night Of The Hunter” following "Escape” shows the might of the band and knocks the audience down with their unrestrained energy. After performing the classical "Attack”, "From Yesterday”, "A Beautiful Lie” and the new "Vox Populi”, "This Is War”, "100 Suns”, Jared leaves the stage for his elder brother Shannon to take over the control of the audience. Shannon plays a truly magical and beautiful piece of music "L490” which he has composed himself. The combination of acoustic and electro guitars with the opening performed at the Tibetan singing bowl and a powerful end with the chanting of Tibetan monks make this song unique. This is the song for the real connoisseurs of 30 Seconds To Mars. The next song – the acoustic "Revenge” - is performed by Jared Leto from the stands. It’s followed by "Echelon” (acoustic as well) performed by request of the audience and "The Kill” divided into two parts: acoustic and with the full band. Jared finishes the song in the stalls at the small stage where he joins the rest of the band to go on with the stunning "Buddha For Mary”. Having effectively dived into the audience, Jared returns back to the small and later – to the main stage to finish the show with "Search And Destroy”, "Closer To The Edge”, "The Fantasy” and half of "Hurricane” with the promise to sing it up to the end next time 30 Seconds To Mars come to Russia. The amazing show is crowned with "Kings & Queens” performed with the fans of the band coming to the stage.
 The aura of 30 Seconds To Mars is absolutely incredible! They’re full of positive, frankness and joy about what they’re doing. The musicians give 1000 percent of themselves to the performance putting the maximum of sincerity, the maximum of emotions and the maximum of energy in every single song. The band gets great pleasure from performing and shares this magical mood with the audience. The bond between the band and their fans is fascinating! Jared Leto once said that their concerts are not for the audience, but by the audience. No wonder, because people at 30 Seconds To Mars shows sing along, clap, stomp and show their support to the band during the whole show. Such close involvement in the concert makes one feel part of something grand. That’s why the show with the attendance of more than 10000 people has a touch of cosiness and makes one feel at home. This truly friendly atmosphere shows in everything: the communication of the band with the audience, the singing of a birthday song to Shannon, happy smiles on the faces of the musicians and people around and many other things.
 It was clear that on leaving the stage 30 Seconds To Mars were pleased at the warm and emotional greeting offered by the Russian audience. And the musicians charm and win people’s hearts easily. Something from outer space is combined with something of the earth in them. 30 Seconds To Mars are valued for the deep messages in their lyrics, for their sincerity and openness. They fill hearts with hope and belief and give strength to follow the dreams no matter what.
