Not Called Jinx: We always give our best on every gig

1) How did you get to know each other and set up a band?
Kilian, Vincent and me(Adrian) went to the same school and we heard of this event of another school preparing for a Battle of the Bands of all the bands of the school.
We were so thrilled to take part and decided to form a band even though we only had a little grasp over our instruments. We even recruited 2 other classmates for the bass and 2nd guitar. Nevertheless we won 1st place and therefore we were given the motivation to continue our quest in conquering the band scene.

2) You’ve been a band since 2005. Tell us, how did you and your music change throughout these years?
In the beginning, we were influenced by rock bands like Sum 41, Incubus, Sugarcult etc..
So our music was rather more like the American pop-punk scene. When time flew by, we realized that our music became more popular but no one could "understand" the music and it was not very danceable. Our producer also said we had to do more simple music, like pop music nowadays, so that "normal" listeners could dance and sing along. Our music became more poppy but we definitely obtained the Rock sound we always had.

3) How do you usually begin working at your songs?
Usually, Tommy and I(Adrian) record some of our ideas at home, at our home-recording studios and send them to the others. When there's a hook or when some parts sound good we take them and record the song at home. At the end, we rehearse the song and everybody includes his own style in playing.

4) Your tour is beginning in September. What do you yourself expect from it?
We expect a large audience whom we have to convince with our mindbreak, awesome performance! no, kidding smile but the tour is gonna be awesome, especially with our best buddys 5Bugs.

5) What huge festivals did you take part it? What is it like: standing onstage in front of a big audience?
Well, we are still applying for some festivals this summer but they seem to be fully booked. The biggest festival we played on was the "Open-Flair Festival" where we shared the stage with a lot of famous European and German bands and even the Swedish band "The Hives".
We always give our best on every gig, that's why it doesn't affect our stage-fright too much if we play infront of 200 or 10000 people.

6) In what country of the world would you like to perform most of all and why?
Hahaha smile Asia of course smile Ichan, our new bassist, is Indonesian and I(Adrian) am half-Philipino. We always dreamed of playing in front of a large crowd in our home countries because we know that European bands or American bands can sell out concerts successfully. And our families would finally see us performing live smile
And of course the Vans Warped Tour would be a great venue to play on.

7) German bands are very popular all over the world. Can you name that particular trait of German music which is typical for it only?
Really? German bands are famous all over the world? hahaha, well "Rammstein" immediately comes to my mind:) they have a very typical German pronunciation but exaggerate it. Typical for good German music in Germany are mostly the funny or meaningful lyrics. But I don't know what makes German music so famous abroad when people don't understand the language.

8) How do the ideal summer holidays look for you?
We often visit the coast of the Baltic Sea and enjoy the summer breeze and the white beach. We, the whole band, plan to spend our holidays there again in the coming weeks.

9) What do you like most of all about being in Not Called Jinx?
The cheering audience after we had successful gigs, the songwriting, the recording in the studio, the parties with friends and fans, the booze..etc.

10) Apart from touring, what are your plans for the future?
For the future we plan to spread the band name and music throughout Germany, then we would like to expand to America and Asia but there's no rush.
