Anouk : Hard Headed Woman
Rock music is male dominated world. However girls make their voice and point of view heard getting louder and louder. From 4 no Blondes, to the Breeders or Hole and nowadays muses like Pink or Avril Lavigne. But prior to these chicks whose kick ass attitude is a trademark, you had Anouk. Many words come to your mind when you evocate Anouk. The rock chick with a tremendous stage presence that exploded in the music scene in the late 90’s singing " she’ll never be "nobody’s wife”. Her voice that reminds you of Janis Joplin. Yeah that could be fragments of Anouk . But not all of her.
Now it’s 2010 and underneath the” I don’t give a F*ck attitude” , Anouk shows her sensitive side with her latest album released August 2009: " For Bitter Or Worse” The sensitive, yet provocative lyrics show the Dutch singer’s inner strength. Each of her album is different like a picture of her life at one particular moment. For " Bitter or Worse” is too. It may shows some scars, but the atmosphere is also very hopeful, like a " never give up on your dreams despite all the heartaches life can put on your path” message
Superstar in her native country (The Netherlands) Anouk’s success abroad hasn’t reach the popularity and massive airplay she gets back home, when she doesn’t come unnoticed in countries like France. Finger crossed for the new LP to set the record straight.
