Brandon Ashley: I've never felt any fear before going on stage.
1. Tell us a bit about yourself. How did you decide to start a career of the singer? did you feel special support from somebody in your decision? Who do you think is the main person who always helps you? I think that it happened when I saw David Bowie the first time on the TV. I've got very impressed and inspired by the personality of Jim Morrison and by the dark soul of "The Velvet Underground". I've never been supported by anyone beside myself, it has always been me and my extreme dedication and passion for music. 2. Do you write lyrics and music for the songs yourself? Yes. I am the creator of my own music and the visionary of the whole lyrics and project. My new Ep "NIGHTMARE FACTORY 82", is the proof of my needing to create something completely different from what is going on today in the music business. Artists are not interested anymore in creating something that makes sense as a concept, it's just about one or two songs good enough to sell on I-Tunes...and then?! What about the rest of the album?
I created a story behind the music, I thought about it like an opera to celebrate my character, where all the songs and the lyrics are connected to each other like a big puzzle: you don't really wanna miss a piece if you wanna get the entire sense. That makes my work different.
3. Do you create your style yourself? Yes, through years of sound experience.
4. Do you feel fear before a performance? How do you treat your fans? I've never felt any fear before going on stage. I actually feel a lot of adrenaline, which is something directly connected to the crowd. I'm feeding myself with your emotions and I give it back to you performing on stage: you are my favorite meal!
5. We know that you have already performed in Moscow as the opening act for the German band Cinema Bizarre. Frankly, you have conquered hearts of a lot of girls who were there. And what do you say? What is your impression? Your crowd is great! Russia is crazy, I cannot wait to come back there and see all your faces watching my moves on stage. I can tell you that your love will be returned in a special way when I'll be back there on tour.
6. What is your impression of Moscow? Did you see its sights? I love Moscow, honestly I've been everywhere all around town, included the Red Square: rain and bad weather didn't stop me to visit the most interesting places. 7. You created the project called Brandon Ashley and The Silverbugs. Why did you decide to begin a solo career? And what about the other guys? "Brandon Ashley & The Silverbugs" it's a reflection of my first "self", that began 3 years ago. I thought it was time for something new entirely based on my name and my personality. The rest of the band is busy in other projects, I wish them all the best.
8. Where do you draw inspiration for creativity? Creativity is not a logical process, so I'm not really able to describe how I compose my music. About "NIGHTMARE FACTORY 82", I found inspiration through my life and my experiences, to create a character as my own avatar, NF82. From the abyss of excess and perdition, through suffering, passion and knowledge, to the Kingdom of the Swine King for the last challenge before becoming a God. 9. What do you prefer? to go to a club or to read book at home in the evening?:) By the way what book are you reading now? I love spending time at home reading and writing new music. Actually I'm dedicating my hours reading a book about Napoleon's life.
10. Which music do you like to listen to? Do you dream to perform with someone? I don't have a lot of time to listen to other music because I work everyday on my own stuff, plus I haven't been impressed by anything special recently. After playing with Iron Maiden I think that few other experiences would be comparable to that great emotion. 11. Let's imagine for a moment that you're a movie hero. In whose place do you see yourself? I mean, in what movie hero do you see the absolutely copy of yourself? "NIGHTMARE FACTORY 82", acting as NF82: not done yet, but maybe I will get inspired by my own work and I will make a movie about it...in black and white of course.
12. And now the main question, which excites a lot of girls:) Do you have a girlfriend? What do you value in a girl? And what pushes you off from them? I am married to a beautiful and exciting woman. Best value in a girl? Curves and style! What push me off from a girl? Jealousy! 13. Finally, by tradition of our magazine, what do you want to say to our readers? I would like to invite all of you to visit my profile on myspace at www.myspace.com/brandonashleynf82, my website at www.brandon-ashley.net and to support your favorite artist going on I-Tunes and buying "NIGHTMARE FACTORY 82".
