The Japanese band D’ERLANGER is one of those bands who stood at the roots of visual kei musical style – a very sophisticated and truly Japanese music showing the mysterious and bright nature of this country and its culture. They play a mixture of rock and gothic topped with visual kei sound which makes their tunes sound spicy and powerful. Distinctive guitars and drum parts together with strong vocals add up to the originality and authenticity of D’ERLANGER sound.
D’ERLANGER were formed in 1983, but it tool them some time to take off. Completed in 1987 by Tetsu on drums and in 1988 by kyo on leading vocals, D’ERLANGER began to conquer Japan. The year 1988 was marked by several live gigs followed by the band’s shutting in the studio to record their debut LP. It came out later in 1989 and was entitled "LA VIEN EN ROSE”. After the release D’ERLANGER hit the road and went on SADISTICAL PUNK TOUR which included many Japanese cities. This tour helped D’ERLANGER to build quite a big following conquering more and more people every night by their powerful live performances. After the tour the band went straight to the studio to work at their sophomore album and first major release "BASILISK”. The first single "DARLIN” came out in January 1990 and the album itself was released later in March. The appearance of "BASILISK” was followed by heavy touring in Japan, gaining the band even more popularity and fans. Everything went just fine when in December 1990 D’ERLANGER suddenly announced their break-up. This naturally came as a shock to all the supporters of D’ERLANGER. To mark the end of the epoch the musicians released a live album in two parts "MOON AND THE MEMORIES…THE ETERNITIES / LAST LIVE 1” and "MOON AND THE MEMORIES.,.THE ETERNITIES / LAST LIVE 2” which were recorded during their MOON AND THE MEMORIES TOUR.
It seemed that the story of the band was over. However 16 years later in 2006 D’ERLANGER reunited and sensationally came back to the stage! They celebrated this reunion with the release of the two remastered albums – "LAZZARO” and "PANDORA” , the latter coming out in limited edition featuring the dvd with the exclusive footage of the band which was never released before. The first gig after reunion took place in April 2007 in Tokyo. Later that year D’ERLANGER performed at ABSTINENCE’S DOOR #001 sharing the stage with such bands as MUCC and Merry. 2008 was marked by new concerts and the new LP "the price of being a rose in loneliness” and the 25th anniversary of the band celebrated by the show in BUDOKAN Tokyo in May. The year 2009 opened a new chapter in D’ERLANGER’s history. They released their album "D’ERLANGER” and expanded their tour to South Korea and Taiwan. The plan on the further expansion passes on to 2010-2011 when D’ERLANGER aim to tour in Europe and USA. So,20th Anniversary Period of Major Label will start soon….
