David Brown: “Hey, you are the capital of rock!” (Brazzaville in Saint-Petersburg)

March 8 is the International Women's Day and it was the day David Arthur Brown together with his band "Brazzaville" gave a concert on the stage of Petersburg’s club "Zal Ozhidaniya.

Once in the club, we watched the admiration with which the audience anticipated this event. We heard rave reviews about the work of the band, their incendiary shows and long waiting for a new gig of the guys. We all kept warm memories about the previous concert of Brazzaville last year, so we were looking forward to seeing the band on stage.
The supporting band Zimavsegda appeared on the stage with a half-hour delay, which is typical for such concerts. The boys performed some of their songs and concluded their show by a song "Always winter”.

As the guys explained they were hoping that after this song the audience will keep in mind the band that "wormed up” them before the main guests of the evening. It should be noted that "Zimavsegda” perfectly fit into the concept of the show. Their quiet, non-irritating music tuned everybody to the desired mood easily.

After a 15 minute break David appeared on stage. The man slowly got up on stage and greeted the audience the way as if he were familiar with everybody for a hundred years. Musicians did not forget to congratulate the women half of the audience with their holiday.

That evening the group presented their new album, as Brown said at the beginning of the concert. The group pleased us not only with new songs, but also their favorite hits. With the first sounds the audience found itself enveloped in this fascinating music.

The vocalist kidded, talked to the audience, tried to speak Russian, sometimes he consulted his keyboard player asking for the correct variant - all this had the audience to taste.

By the way, there were some changes in the band staff. This year a friend of Brown from L.A. played instead of the guitarist from Turkey. And also there was another drummer, from Novosibirsk this time, the same city the keyboardist is from.

In the second half of the show the singer asked the public for "song requests”. David did not refuse anyone and the band performed all the songs they were asked. We enjoyed all the hits, including "Star called the sun” and "The Clouds in Camarillo” which they recorded together with the Russian band "Minerva”. Last year the song was performed much worse because the keyboardist did not know the lyrics well. But this time, the song just blew up everyone.

Everybody had a lot of fun that evening! The band invented many interesting "chips” for the audience: the sound of keys, rhythmic clapping, etc. The most interesting thing is that the audience followed up these requests with visible pleasure. For each of those present realized that everything that is happening now is not just a formal communication of an artist with the fans, but of a friend with friends. All this made them to be a part of the music.

Leaving the club, we were very excited that we have visited this concert. March 8 we received a charge of energy that will be with us for a very long time.

Bizarre Music thanks Anna Mikhailova (Bird Art Concert Agency) for the provided accreditations for the concert and organising all the interviews!!
