Der Bote: The new album will be calmer and more melodical.
1) We know that you’re working at the new album now. Tell us how is it going and at what stage of recordings are you now? Hey! So we started the recordings in September 2009. First of all we recorded drum parts with Ralf Gustke. Then in November Daniel Behrmann recorded rhythm guitar parts. Then in November we were joined by Victor Smolski who worked at solo parts. After that there was a break because we had some other commitments. In June we went back to the recordings. Two songs are ready and there’s one more recorded by half. This week we’ve invited a children’s choir in the studio and they’ll sing the refrain for one of the songs.
2) You always let your fans know how the work is going on with the help of studio reports, photos and videos. How did you come up with the idea? I think it’s quite interesting with other bands as well – to see how they work. Besides we’ve been working at the new album for quite a long time. Der Bote consist of Frank Itt and me. We’ve got a lot of other things to do and sometimes we’re just short of time. So when we get back to work there are always photos and videos at our sites so that people see that we’re actually working at the CD. We get a lot of positive feedback about this material at Facebook. That’s why in the future there’ll be more photos and videos.
3) You’ve worked with Victor Smolski. What did you like most of all about working with him and what new things have you learnt from this collaboration? Victor Smolski has become my friend since the very first day of recordings. We often meet outside the studio and do loads of other stuff together. I think Victor is a very talented musician! I don’t know anyone who does his job as well as Victor does. He’s full of ideas and his talent is very diverse. :) It’s really interesting to watch him work and I do it with great pleasure. It’s a great honor for me that he takes part in the project "Der Bote". I’m grateful to Victor for everything he’s done for me.
4) What other musicians would you like to work with and why? Oh, I would like to work with Paul Landers and Christoph Schneider from "Rammstein". I know both of them very well. Unfortunately I didn’t have an opportunity to work with them in the studio. But it’s quite difficult because "Rammstein" don’t have much time and probably there can be some juridical difficulties. But maybe one day we’ll be able to make it. :)
5) What will be the mood of the new album? In what way will it be different from the previous release? The new album will be calmer and more melodical. Besides it won’t be as bad as the previous one. :) In general it’ll appeal to those who like the mixture of "Rammstein", "Lacrimosa" and "Unheilig".
6) What mood do you need to write a song? What can inspire you? I don’t need any special mood to write a song. There are some simple things I sometimes read in newspapers or see on TV, Mass media give a lot of material for songs. The world has become very sick and there are many bad things which make you sad and make you think.
7) Which concert of those you attended, can you especially single out and why? There are some concerts I attended and especially liked. In the 90s I was a great fan of "Running Wild". In 1991 I saw them live for the first time and it was a grand event for me. As I’ve been a big fan of "Rammstein" since 1997, I like their concerts most of all! "Rammstein’s performances are very remarkable and I like their music most of all. If there had been no "Rammstein", there wouldn’t have been "Der Bote", which is quite understandable.
8) What are your plans for the future and when can we expect the release of the new album? We must finish the album first. I hope we’ll do it by the end of the year. Then there can be a question about what label will release the CD. Our first CD "Kalt!" was released in Russia via CD-Maximum. We don’t know yet if CD-Maximum will want to release our second album. There was no discussion yet. We want to work at the album without any deadlines. Some day we’ll have some live performances but there are no exact dates. I would like to take this opportunity and thank you for you interest for "Der Bote"!! Der Bote
