1) When and how did you first realize you want to be a musician?SIMPLYD4RK
has been first a solo project, from 2005 to summer 2008, and it was not
dedicated to be the one it became. I think it has been an evolution. I
ever loved to compose and write songs, but it's for two years only that
I'm working on its promotion. Now it's sure, I'd like to live of my
creations cuz living of a passion is probably the most enjoyable thing
in the world :) Being a musician is something you have inside of you,
but make it your way of living is a thing totally different. You can be
sure of it only with time, after experiences and things which show you
it was your way :)
2) You really fantastically play with your voice - I mean the way you change it. Did you learn vocals somewhere?I
never learn anything. I compose, write, and sing with my heart and
ears. For my vocals, I just worked very hard. And I carry on this way
:) Singing, screaming, it's things that I like to do and I always
discover new things being in touch with other musicians (ha ha maybe
the next step will be to get a heavy metal voice like Swan from
Blackrain)
3) How would you characterize SIMPLYD4RK style of music?SIMPLYD4RK's world has only one name : UNDEAD ROCKSTRIAL
4) Tell us more about your team mate - the drummer SCREAD SEVENTH.He's
one of my friends for years. When last summer (2008) I had the idea to
have a drummer for my gigs, I asked him first. With a lot of work, we
really did a team work and more than that, he found his place in my
little UNDEAD ROCKSTRIAL world. Scread is this insane zombie who gonna
kick your ass with his bloody drums. Don't be too much scared if you
wanna talk to him, as long he's not hungry, everything's ok ha ha.
5) Your album is out in the end of 2009.What are the theme, the philosophy of the album? From
the Grave is at the same time the end of the solo project SIMPLYD4RK
and the beginning of the teamwork between me and Scread. There's no
main theme, contrary to our next album (ha ha, we just finished to
product the album and are already working on the next :D), but its
title has a its signification. "The Grave is this dark, dusty, and
stony fantasy place, only illuminated by the light of computer screens
where my visual and musical universe takes shape. A sanctuary where
ghosts of the past are screaming together their story, joined by the
sing of dysfunctional machines making some frightening noises". From
the Grave will be under the sign of this strange place, an album full
of emotions, rage, and this fighting spirit which is leading me for so
many years (and by the way there will be undead and vampirism too) !
6)
You're not only a musician but also a graphic designer. What are your
sources of inspiration for it? Are you going to do the artwork for your
forthcoming album yourself? It's a job so it doesn't necessarly
need inspiration, just a certain culture and skill to work for people
around their own world and do the best to give'em something they will
enjoy. I've been working for bands, artists, but also jewelry and
industrial clients :) I'm interested in a lot of things about art and
litterature, it helps me, it's obvious. That's why I love this job,
working for various persons for different projects. It's always
positive and learn a lot. And yeap, as everything in SIMPLYD4RK, I will
design the new album artwork !
7) In your video "No Escape"
you appear as a vampire. Tell us more about how you were shooting the
video - where, who created the idea, who did you work with?We
worked with Fatbros Productions. I wrote the synopsis. They put it in
images :) At the beginning it would have been more oriented on the
story I wrote, but finally for many reasons, we decided to show more
the energy SIMPLYD4RK has on gigs and let some details from the
original story. And I don't appear as a vampire, I'm a vampire, a
modern one.
8) What can people coming to your life gigs expect from them? We're
only two on stage, but are giving more energy than a lot of bands. So
come to see us, and you will get it right in your face ! A wild energy
on stage, and a good talk with us around a glass after ! We love to
speak with our fans after having played :)
9) Are you really that into vampire stories? What is your favourite story?Totally,
I'm a vampire geek ha ha. I love the universe of the roleplay Vampire
The Masquerade : Bloodlines. Cuz they build a great background with
society made of vampires, with their rules, etc.. in a modern world.
Greg Stolze wrote a good book inspirating by this roleplay. By the way,
I read romans like ones of Anne's Rice, Bram Stoker, and I have to read
Poppy Z. Brite, but I think more watching movies (Lost Boys, Near Dark,
Forsaken, Interview with the Vampire, Nosferatu, etc..)
10)
Your songs sound very mystical. Thus, I've got two questions. I's sure
your tunes will definately sound fab in some vampire movie. Would you
like to write a song especially for such a movie?I'd like to.
It's an interesting project to compose for movies I think. And my music
is very narrative. I always tell a story in my lyrics, express a
feeling. It's never "free". Everything I create has its own story and
significations (read the blog every saturday, I'm actually explaining
each title of our album)
11) And the second question concerning the songs - what is the best time for you to create them - in the daylight or at night?Night
for sure ! It's the best time to find concentration when almost
everyone sleeps. And night has something which is inspirating me,
changing me a bit. I don't know how to explain it. Maybe I'm simply
what people call a creature of the night.
12) How did you create your images? With
my weird mind ! I'm mixing everything that I have in head to give this
strange image to SIMPLYD4RK, between undead, urban style, japanese and
cyberpunk influences. Trust me, you just saw a part of UNDEAD
ROCKSTRIAL world by watching No Escape videoclip, there are a lot of
things to discover for days to come !
13) Thank you for the interview. What would you say to all the vampires who read our magazine? ;)To
our undead friends, zombies, vampires, ghouls, and simple humans, stay
simplyd4rknetized and keep on listening to our music, watching the
videoclip and support us ! Don't forget to check these links too ! :

Kiro (Cinema Bizarre): "Borsch and Bliny - It's cool"
1. Kiro, as we know, you have graduated from an
economic college. Did you really plan to become an economist or was it not your
own choice?Kiro:
No, I have not really passion for it! It's really helpful for the
future but I like creative things, like music for example and art!
2. Your performance at the Chayka festival became a wonderful present to the
Ukrainian fans. What’s your impression of Ukraine? Did you manage to walk
around Kiev? What
impressed you most of all? Do you plan to come back?
Kiro:
I was REALLY impressed of Kiev I have to say, it's such an beautiful
city and the people are very nice and polite! And also the food is very
good ;D
3. We all know that you like the Russian band Tatu. How did you find out about
them? How old were you then?
Kiro:
I started beeing a fan of t.A.T.u. since they've released their first
single 'All The Things She Said' in germany ;D I think I was 14 or 15
years old back then!
4. You like other Russian musicians as well. Why do you like Russian music so
much?
Kiro: Yes, I really like the group 'biS' and also Serebro, Vlad Topalov and Sergey Lazarev!
5. You’ve been in the limelight for quite a time already. Is the first euphoria
of being famous over? Don’t your fans bother you? Are you afraid of star fever?
Did anyone in the band face it?
Kiro: No, it's everyday a new challenge and new adventures! I really like this and that's my life and my passion!
6. Do you have plans for summer holidays in mind? What does rest mean to you?
Kiro: No, not really! I enjoy my freetime at home! Can't wait for the tour ;D
7. You were interested in fashion and spared much
attention to it. Are you interested in fashion now and what are you favourite
designers? Have you got any designer clothes?
Kiro: Yes, I love fashion!!! I like Dolce & Gabbana very much! I like to try something new sometimes ;D
8. It’s a bit provocative question. Is there
anything you didn’t like in Russia?
Kiro:
For me it is hard to see that there are so much rich people and so much
poor people, but nothing between, that's really sad...
9. Can you right now name three Russian
national dishes without googling them?
Kiro:
Yes, but I don't it's the right spelling,... Borsch, Bliny ( I really
like it), Parashinka.... xD it's wrong I think, but I hope you know
what I mean!
10. What are your favourite literature (probably from classical literature) and
film characters? You have probably read a lot of books about different
classical epochs. In what epoch would you like to live most of all?
Kiro: Maybe around 1750, I would be really interested to see how life was back then ;D
11. Have you ever considered continuing your education? If you have, in what
profession then?
Kiro: Yes sure, continuing education in art and music maybe... let's see!
12. “ToyZ” is out in August. How would you
characterize the mood of the album? What topics are you dealing with at it?
Kiro:
'Toyz' has many faces, we are inspired by berlin for example because we
are living here for almost 3 years, so it's about clubbing, about
forget everything and just have fun! It's is also about our past, for
example in one of my favourite songs 'In Your Cage' we're talking about
the life we had, I was caged in school because people didn't liked my
for the way I am but I continued and now I am really proud! And for
sure about things we play with and other people are playing with, they
can me innocent, but they can also be about sex and money and power!
13. Tell us about your first performance with Cinema
Bizarre. What memories have you got from that performance?
Kiro:
That was really funny! I was very sick at that day, I will never forget
this! We were 2 hours late and we couldn't do a soundcheck!! But
everything went well ;D
14. Would you like to try yourself in some
other spheres – in cinema or fashion industry for example, or somewhere else?
Kiro:
Yes sure, I love fashion and art and I really would like to try to be
an actor in movies! Would be a really great experience!!
15. What is you life motto?
Kiro: 'Live your dreams' and 'Look forward to the future, not back to the past and don't regret'!

Kira (DNR): "Russia is fantastic"
1. Five of you are a very dangerous mixture. What unites you all? How long have you known each other?Approximately,
we have known each other for 5 years. Now we’ve become a family. It’s
totally crazy and drawing us together for music…thing.
2.
You’ve gained quit a big amount of fans here, in Russia. When do you
plan to gladden your Russian fans with your shows? It seems that your
band is in good relations with “Cinema Bizarre”. Have you ever thought
of an idea to go on autumn tour in Russia together with them?Russia
is fantastic. Now we’re planning our tour and will also search for any
opportunity to give a show in Russia. We are in good relations with
Cinema Bizarre? It’s not true. We never had a chance to meet them, but
I hope soon we will. We’d like to perform with them, but we don’t know
whether they want to perform with us. We should ask them ‘bout this.
They’re like our German “cousins”.
3. What is visual kei for you? Some stage image or life style?
Visual
kei is totally Japanese art, it’s a technique which was used in ancient
theatre Kabuki, after then it dipped into music, in visual kei it gave
everything to music, body and soul. Mostly it’s about the contact with
an instrument, than with image.
4. Kira, you’re very popular
among your band fans. It’s due to your contact with them. You know, it
means much- when your idol sends you “good night”, for example. How do
you find time to talk to everyone? Maybe, once you were also a fan and
you wanted to chat with your idol?Internet – is a very
powerful thing for learning and composing, I found out ‘bout “MySpace”-
that’s how I contact with fans, which is kinda source of inspiration
for me. Indeed, I do understand what is it like- to be someone’s fan.
Talking to your idol. In the end, I met a lot of people who were
unreachable for me. I’m not going to forget who I am.
5.
DeLord. It seems, that most of DNR fans don’t know, that you are into
another project. Tell us, please, more about it. How long have you been
playing the piano? Are you only a performer or a composer as well? Is
it hard to compare working in two different projects? Does it tell upon
DNR?Yes, I’m into another project as well, where I’m a
singer. It was created much earlier than DNR. I was born as a pianist,
so I created that project, where my pianist spirit came to light. I
have inside kinda two different parts of me, which can be united in
DNR. I do manage with DNR; here I mix my classical basis of piano with
keyboards and synthesator. I will always be totally into DNR project,
‘cause it’s my main one. Coexistence of 2 projects? If they’re
organized correctly and don’t force me to mix them, everything is fine.
6.
Mantis, you have a gorgeous vocal. Songs of your band sound amazing
when you perform them. But what’s more interesting is which song do you
like mostly? Thanks for your praise! I enjoy all songs to perform. You know, it’s like to ask a father to choose his most loved son.
7.
Ash, as far as we know, before DNR project you were into the other, in
USA. Maybe you miss it? Where it was more interesting to work? And why?…frankly
speaking I never performed in USA. In reality, I worked in different
bands with hard rock and glam sounding, very typical for America, but
all of them were Italian. The last was called Flesh & Blood...
tribute band only Poison. I still keep the most beautiful memories
‘bout that times and sometimes can be quit nostalgic. But I have to go
further. Not considering their musical styles in DNR project I can
fully show myself, ‘cause Flesh & Blood was a cover-band, so the
experience in DNR is very different to Flesh & Blood. In DNR
project I perform such things ‘bout which I have to think thoroughly,
how it’ll be better to perform them. And also here I can develop my
ideas, which I couldn’t in other cover-bands.
It’s more interesting for me to work that way. But I have to say that I enjoyed other bands too
8. Sieg, you have an amazing voice. Have you had a wish to be the lead-singer? Or maybe you were in the previous project?I never was a lead-singer in other projects. I’d like to sing more, but in the band I take part only as a back-vocalist.
Thousands “thank you” Bizarre Magazine
Kira.
Tnx a lot, Kira =)
