Scream up to the freedom (Lostprophets concert in Moscow)
Non-ordinary? Yeah. Daring? For sure! Talented? No doubt! Lostprophets perform hurricane songs with witty and ironical lyrics, hymn-like choruses and velvet vocals. Being one of the best alternative rock bands from Great Britain they prove that it’s not in vain that good old mother Britain is considered one of the most prominent music states in the world. The band’s latest album "The Betrayed” has become the most honest in their history according to the musicians themselves. The release of this album was preceded by the recording of the material which was later literally thrown away in the dustbin. The band being dissatisfied with the results decided to fire their producer and work at the album themselves – beginning from the process of producing the record and finishing with the art work. And they proved that sometimes the "do-it-yourself” approach works out better than collaboration with a producer. During the tour in support of "The Betrayed” Lostprophets visited Russia with two gigs – in Moscow and St. Petersburg on May 24 and May 25 respectively. Just for one night Moscow DK Gorbunov has become the center of drive, energy and the true spirit of rock-n-roll. The band Those Days opens up the first ever Lostprophets gig on the Russian ground. They charm the audience with melodic calm art rock and strong vocals and leave a very good impression. And then everyone stands still awaiting for their heroes: Ian Watkins (vocals), Mike Lewis (rhythm guitar), Lee Gaze (lead guitar), Stuart Richardson (bass), Jamie Oliver (keys, back vocals, turntables) and Luke Johnson (drums). When the venue sinks in purple lights and the soft waves of the intro music embrace the audience, Lostprophets appear onstage. The manifest of freedom begins with the warning "If It Wasn’t For Hate We’d Be Dead By Now”. Stop and think for a second, enjoy your life and live your dreams until it’s too late. This mood is taken up by "It’s Not The End Of The World, But I Can See It From Here”, powerful "Burn Burn” and "Start Something”, life-asserting "Where We Belong”, "Last Train Home”, and "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)”, ironical "Can’t Catch Tomorrow (Good Shoes Won’t Save You This Time)”. Lostprophets base the set list on the songs from all the four albums and it seems to be like an ideal concert program. They hold the audience real strong in their hands without letting go and catching a breath even for a moment. The spirit filling the venue is so catchy that it seems that even severe security will throw their hands in the air in the next second and sing together with everyone "Standing on the rooftops, everybody scream your heart out!”. The excited audience starts to demand "Wake Up (Make a Move)”, but sadly it’s not on the list that night. Nevertheless later on their Twitter account Lostprophets promise to perform the song next time they come to Russia. The irresistible charisma and energy of these musicians must have captured every single person present at the gig that night. They’re bold, self-confident and sensually sophisticated. Lostprophets have got a lot to say. Try your hand at out-arguing their witty ironically sarcastic lyrics! We bet you’ll fail! They condemn the flaws of modern society: hate, hypocrisy, lies. They challenge the system, conventions, cages we live in and shout it all out in your face urging you to fight – for dreams, beliefs, freedom. Scream your heart out! Start something! Wake up and make a move! Every Lostprophets’ song is a hymn to the dream and the freedom. Speak for yourself, fight all the shit that surrounds you and don’t let it destroy and swallow you! It’s a therapy for broken hearts and hopeless dreamers. Just for one night Lostprophets invite us to the world beyond the ordinary and the dull – the world where the freedom of word, thought and dream rule. And the wings seem to be growing behind your back little by little… Just to say "goodbye” to the fans would be too ordinary for a night like that and Lostprophets do it with the heart-breaking "The Light That Shines Twice As Bright” and everyone holds their breath listening to the beautiful sounds drowning in the darkness. Later on their Twitter accounts Ian Watkins thanks Moscow fans calling them amazing, Mike Lewis adds Russia to his new favorite place to play in and Lee Gaze puts it on the Lostprophets map together with Australia. And these are not the only praising words that Russia gets from Lostprophets. Sure enough "crazy Russian maniacs” gave the band from Wales a hot welcome and impressed the musicians greatly. And we will be waiting for the savers of our hearts to come back. They owe us a song in the end…
