Marakesh: We live and our views and moods are constantly changing!

Bizarre-music: Hey guys! What are your impressions from St. Petersburg and from the tour on the whole?
Marakesh: Hey! St. Petersburg always produces a great impression! Beautiful city. Beautiful people.

Bizarre-music: What was it like - to play with Neversmile’s drummer?
Marakesh: Great! He helped us a lot when our drummer Valera due to some technical reasons couldn’t go on tour with us. Diego did all the job with great responsibility, learned all the songs without any mistakes! He’s really talented!

Bizarre-music: As far as we know you experiment with sound quite often: you switch from electronics to guitars and then back. Now you had an acoustic experience. Why do all these changes happen?
Marakesh: We live and our views and moods are constantly changing! Of course it reflects in everything we do. If we had been a commercial project, we would have had certain limits, especially speaking about Russia and Ukraine. But as long as we do everything just for the idea we can allow ourselves to experiment.

Bizarre-music: Many were surprised by the appearance of your song "Wait” in the game GTA 4 and the selling of the song as the game OST at iTunes. How did you manage to get in the game? Are you the first Ukrainian band to sell songs at iTunes?
Marakesh: It wasn’t like we were trying to record the song for GTA 4 at any cost. Show business in America functions right so they paid us themselves. The Ukrainian band Esthetic Education sold their tracks at iTunes before us. In our case we don’t get anything else from iTunes. The thing is that we broke off the agreement with the label Megaliner that had worked on the agreement but even now they keep on becoming money for the album M. illegally not even letting us know how the sales go or paying us any money.

Bizarre-music: Your band officially provides the songs for downloads. Haven’t you got money for recordings or do you side the opinion that CDs have died out?
Marakesh: We haven’t bought CDs for many years ourselves. And neither have our friends. It would be unfair. It’s the same as selling Zaporozhetses (an old Russian car which is not very comfy to drive; translator’s note) and driving a Mercedes.

Bizarre-music: What about some other ways of selling songs?
Marakesh: Not via Internet pays for sure as they’re not developed in our countries. We have some ideas but won’t share them until we realize all of them so that no one could steal our ideas.

Bizarre-music: Together with the release of your album you have shot a video! Tell us more about how the shooting went? Do you plan any video shoots for the tracks from the EP "Digital Blood”?
Marakesh: Yes, we’re shooting a video in Budapest in January. But this video is for the new material which we’re recording in Budapest as well.

Bizarre-music: "Digital Blood”. What’s the concept of the name and the series of EPs on the whole?
Marakesh: We tried to put our souls and everything alive in the electronics to mix it with rock and get a fresh and unique sound.

Bizarre-music: Mark, how old were you when you wrote your first song? How did it happen?
Marakesh: I started to write when I heard Mumiy Troll (a Russian rock band; translator note) at the age of ten. To me they were the same as Sex Pistols for the youngsters of the 70s – when after attending the concert of Sex Pistols people were inspired by their energy and started setting up their own bands.

Bizarre-music: What are your plans for the future? What can your fans expect from you?
Marakesh: In January we’re recording new songs and shooting a video in Budapest. In winter we’re going to present all the new things at our concerts. Follow the tour dates at http://www.marakesh-m.com
