Sunset Roulet Like a Rolling Stone ….
California: land of so many dreams, music, movies. The girls from Sunset Roulett could be lost among the floods of wannabe working their way to stardom. But, they have a "je ne sais quoi” that makes the difference. Find out why talent cannot stay hidden for too long.
1. Who are you? Let’s talk about the band, its name, yourselves etc…
Judah Lane (Lead Vox) and Kaylee Rayne (Guitar Player) of Sunset Roulett, currently based out of Ohio. We feel for now that the Midwest is perfect for quick jet trips to anywhere and fun road trips for bands and good food. We met at work, we were instantly drawn to each other and realized we had the same ideas and visions. We're both "only” children, but we've created a sister-bond that goes beyond blood, and now we're excited to share the stage together. The other musicians featured in our recordings are talented friends that we hand-picked for this project. As for the name... Sunset - whether you’ve lived in LA for years or only visited once, there is something about Sunset Blvd, you want to hold on to that vibe wherever you are. Roulett - you spin the wheel and hope it lands on your number. We dropped the "E” on Roulett because we drop our E string as low as it can go.
2. How do you define your music? Well, if we have to narrow it down...
Shock Pop Industrial Dark Epic Rock
3. What are your musical, even visual influences? Musical...We grew up loving all styles of music but there's always that 5 second breakdown, a single note in a guitar solo, or a random drum hit that grabs our gut. Visual...City skylines at night, Darth Vader and Othello chips
4. Who will you dream to collaborate with?
Wes Craven and Tim Burton...at the same time mwa ha ha
5. The music industry is facing a lot of issues currently. Some blame websites as Myspace, You Tube, illegal downloads, greedy artists, others think we should create a law to regulate of this. What’s your opinion on the subject as consumers and as artists?
There are way more than enough laws already, a thief is gonna steal regardless. So you make music so accessible that there's no need to steal it. If they just let it be, technology will progress fast enough to let the industry make a profit, pay artists what they deserve and give consumers the choices they want.
6. How your dream gig would be and why?
It’s not necessarily a place but a vibe and atmosphere created by new and old friends, but of course, The Roxy and Wembley are on our wish list.
7. Live or studio?
We have a blast creating while in the studio but the entire time, we can’t wait to perform it live.
8. A funny story about you girls?
We were moving Kaylee out of her apartment BY ourselves, at night.. On one of our trips back from the car, we were assaulted with noises overhead. Something that sounded wet, something hard, and a crash. It scared us SO bad that we ran inside, slammed the door and locked it. When we finally got the balls to go investigate... We found that someone had either dropped, or thrown from the balcony... their dinner... The crash was the plate, the hard thing was a HUGE rack of ribs and the wet stuff... It was none other than TONS of mac n cheese! Had we been one second slower...we could have caught it and had a midnight snack. Or if we hadn't ran so damn fast..we probably would have heard a hungry person cursin!. We gotta say carrying heavy boxes through a yard of someone's lost dinner was NOT the easiest thing, but it was freakin' hilarious. Oh and amongst the carnage, there was a chunk of bright yellow cornbread, glistening in the porch lights... It remains a mystery whether it was intentional or accidental, but either way...We got pictures.
9. What are your current and upcoming projects?
